This is 3D printed armor for the Vortex 6x Micro magnifier. It serves the function of protecting your optic, while also providing extra grip to more easily manipulate the magnifier. Full functionality with the original bikini lens caps is retained. The armor is compatible with the original mount as well as the Unity FTC mount.
The fiber reinforced nylon material used to print this cover is both impact resistant and capable of withstanding high temperatures (250+ Fahrenheit) without deforming. The black version is printed in a carbon fiber reinforced nylon, and the FDE version is printed in a glass reinforced nylon. The FDE version matches magpul's MCT color fairly closely and can also be dyed with RIT dye if you need to match it to other colors.
Due to this being a 3D printed part, small defects and imperfections are to be expected. If this is not acceptable to you, DO NOT ORDER. While I understand aesthetics are important, the performance of the part is more important than its appearance.
The amount of space below the optic for a BUIS will be reduced by .09" due to the thickness of the armor. If more clearance is needed, the housing can be modified with a dremmel tool like most other polymer parts.
To install the armor you will need a 3/32 hex wrench. Remove the adjustment turret caps and slide the armor on from both ends. Use a the included screws to draw the two halves together but do not overtighten the screws. Check optical alignment to dot and make any necessary adjustments before reinstalling turret caps. To remove the cover, the caps must be removed first.
